Congregation (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates congregation.network, a professional alumni network for graduates of Catholic schools. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and respect.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use Congregation, we may collect:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and password
  • Profile information: Your Catholic school history, graduation year, job title, employer, city, state, parish, diocese, and profile photo
  • Content you create: Posts, comments, and messages you send through the platform
  • Usage data: How you interact with the platform, pages visited, and features used
  • Device information: Browser type, IP address, and device identifiers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your alumni profile
  • Connect you with other Catholic school graduates
  • Enable messaging between members
  • Allow Catholic schools to identify and reach their alumni for advancement purposes
  • Display relevant job opportunities and volunteer postings
  • Send important account notifications and updates
  • Improve and maintain the platform

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other members: Your profile information (name, school, location, bio) is visible to other logged-in Congregation members
  • With your Catholic school: If your school uses our CRM portal, their advancement staff may be able to view your profile information for alumni relations and fundraising purposes
  • With employers: If you apply to a job posted on Congregation, your profile may be shared with that employer
  • For legal compliance: If required by law or to protect the safety of our community
  • With service providers: We use Supabase for database hosting and Resend for email delivery, both of which handle data securely

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage through Supabase, and authentication best practices. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and update your profile information at any time through your account settings
  • Delete your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@congregation.network
  • Opt out of non-essential communications
  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you

7. Children's Privacy

Congregation is intended for users 13 years of age and older. For users under 18, we encourage parents to create a profile on their child's behalf using our Parent account type. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect your ability to use the platform.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the platform or sending an email to your registered address. Your continued use of Congregation after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
